Just days after relocating to our new site in the Roanoke Industrial Park in SE Roanoke, we were called by the Fire Marshall.

The first allegation was a supposed need for a "certificate of occupancy". We declined and the Fire Marshall responded with a search warrant.

Under Va. Code, no certificate of occupancy is required. So then the Fire Marshall adjusted his stance arguing that there could be no meetings within the same structure also used for storage. Well, there were no other tenants in the building when we rented it. We were unaware of any other use for storage, or other use, in the building. Either way, Va. Code allows churches to use ANY structure for the "act of worship" so long as there is no alteration or changes made to the structure and that the "act of worship" does not alter the use of the building.

In our model, at each service everything that is used for the "act of worship" arrives and leaves each time at all of our locations around the state. Any visit to these many sites at a time not in for a CC worship event, the visitor would find no evidence of our use of the building.

Currently Roanoke City has assigned the following attorneys to the case:
